Managing resources is a key challenge in Arena . The game includes a classic Resident Evil -style itembox system where players can store items for later use. Early versions of the game were noted for being easier because ammunition and herbs (the healing items) were abundant. Later updates rebalanced the game to be harder, lowering the drop rates to prevent the inventory from becoming "easily bloated" with ammo and healing items. One recurring bug throughout development was the itembox and inventory being wiped clean when retrying a mission, a bug that was finally fixed in version 0.8.194.
